4 years living in Berlin and I've never celebrated the real Xmas with my friends here because I've been always somewhere else... So last year in 2013 I planned to give a liitle gift for my colleague.. Then I baked the KASTENGEL (chesse cookies) and placed it nicely in a clear glass plastic with a small card hanged on it.
Recipe
Ingredients:
300 gr all purpose flour
220 gr butter (room temperature)
4 eggyolks
200 gr old cheese (old gouda would be better)
40 gr parmesan cheese
2 eggyolks (beaten) and 75 gr cheddar cheese (spread on the cookies)
Directions:
1. In a large mixing bowl cream the butter with whisk until soft
2. Add the eggyolk ones at a time and mix it to incorporate
3. Add the flour and blend it and also add the old cheese and parmesan... Mix it well
4. Preheat the oven 170 degree Celcius
5. --> and its the time to show your creativity... shape the dough and put it on the bake sheet..
6. spread the eggyolk and cheddar cheese onto the dough
7. Bake it for 20 minutes
Here is mine...
I also made a special one for my mom in Indonesia, because in my home country the mothers day held on 22nd December.
And the gift for my colleague.... enjoy the cookies and try to find out which greetings inside... :D
xoxo
